چکیده

Introduction: Alcohol abuse is one of the grave social and medical problems in many countries, including Russia. not only negatively affects health, family relationships, but also a person’s performance. Hangover, which negative consequences alcohol intake, complex neurological somatic symptoms that occur when ethanol almost completely metabolized to acetaldehyde. This condition, despite severity potential economic damage, remains poorly understood, there are no effective medicines treat it.
Aim: provide an experimental basis for possibility using N-acetylcysteine (NAC), precursor glutathione, as medicine prevention cognitive impairments due intoxication.
Materials Methods: The study used male Wistar rats, were intraperitoneally injected with at dose 3 g/kg simulate acute intoxication. Sixty minutes before injection, animals from groups gavaged NAC (1 g/kg) or equivalent volume saline. Immediately after awakening h it, assessed deficits, motor skills, spontaneous activity, functions. After completion behavioral tests, euthanized assess level triglycerides (TGs), malonic dialdehyde (MDA) liver homogenates, determine activity enzymatic antioxidant systems serum aminotransferases.
Results Discussion: intoxication control group was associated pronounced signs impairments, low exploratory impaired fine skills adhesive test, function decline Morris water maze test. rats had received injection demonstrated better higher performance test (in comparison treated saline intoxication). In NAC, levels MDA, TGs, well enzymes, closer values intact greater extent than been saline.
Conclusion: Orally administered led decrease deficiency reduced amnesic effect ethanol. could be improvement metabolism disorders oxidative stress dysfunction.

Brain reward deficits accompany withdrawal (hangover) from acute ethanol in rats.

Withdrawal from an acute bolus injection of ethanol produces affective or emotional signs that include anxiogenic-like behavior and conditioned place aversion. This study assessed whether brain reward deficits that accompany withdrawal from chronic ethanol dependence are also observed upon withdrawal from acute intoxication. Rats were implanted with stimulating electrodes aimed at the medial fo...

Evaluation of Prothrombin Time in Acute Acetaminophen Overdose treated by N-acetylcysteine

Background: Acetaminophen (N-Acetyl-p aminophenol; APAP) is one of the most common types of analgesics. It is also the most common xneobitic reported to poison centers. This study investigates if therapeutic doses of NAC can falsely increase coagulation tests, prothrombin time (PT) and bleeding time (BT). Methods: Thirty-six APAP poisoned patients whose acetaminophen serum concentration were...

Acute and sub-acute oral toxicity of ethanol extract of Cassia fistula fruit in male rats

Objective: The plantCassia fistula L. (Caesalpiniaceae) is traditionally used to treat heart diseases, abdominal pain and fever. The present study was aimed to investigate the toxic effects acute and sub-acute administration of ethanol extract of C. fistula fruit (CFE) in male Wistar rats. Materials and Methods: In acute toxicity, the effects of a single oral dose (1000, 3000 and 5000 mg/kg) of...

Acute and Chronic Effects of N-acetylcysteine on Pentylenetetrazole-induced Seizure and Neuromuscular Coordination in Mice

Background: N-acetylcysteine (NAC) has been indicated against experimental seizures, but with relatively inconclusive results. This study was undertaken to evaluate whether NAC exerts a dose-dependent anticonvulsant effect and to determine NAC safe therapeutic dose range and its muscle-relaxant activity in both acute and chronic uses. Methods: Following intraperitoneal (i.p.) administration of N...
